The Darker Horse is a visual inspiration and news blog dedicated to high-fashion knitwear.  

We curate knitwear trends and provide vision and direction for those to come.  

We also report on important issues and developments in the knitting industry, tastemakers and change-makers, and product, material, and process innovation.

As creative director, Wendy Friedman works with Men's, Women's, and Accessories brands across all market sectors to launch new business or fix ones that need to be reinvented. She has held positions with Coach, Henri Bendel, and Tommy Hilfiger and through her own company, Totem New York, she develops sweaters, cold weather accessories, and athleisure collections for luxury and contemporary designers, retailers, and private label manufacturers.

Past and present clients include: Gap, Amazon, Saks, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Vineyard Vines, John Varvatos, Draper James, Doncaster, Steve Madden, Tommy Hilfiger Sport, DKNY Active, Calvin Klein Performance, Victor Alfaro, Thakoon, Adam Lippes, Bill Blass, Badgley Mischka, APiece Apart, Kimberly Ovitz, Sari Gueron, and Natori.

Wendy is available for brand consulting, concept and trend presentations, knitwear and accessory design and development, collaborations, content creation, speaking engagements, and writing opportunities.

Wendy has a B.S from Cornell University in Textiles and Functional Apparel Design and a certificate in Journalism from N.Y.U.  She is a former adjunct professor of knitwear at F.I.T and has taught at Parsons School of Design.
